It’s not what YOU call the news, and for a reason.

Stage 6: Hacked

I don’t really know what to say on this, so here it goes:

Stage6 is a video hosting website much along the lines of Youtube and Megavideo. While sites like Youtube encode the videos to a flash format (swf), the Stage6 videos are encoded in Divx, which is supposed to give them better quality and, unlike Youtube, does not remove pornographic content (an age verified account is required to view said videos). The website is owned by Divx, makers of the video codec.

Another advantage that Stage6 can boast over Youtube is the community, which is described as “not having as many children”. The website also shows videos in High Definition (where available).

Anyway, the website was hacked earlier today by 4chan (unconfirmed), acting under the guise of Ebaumsworld. Most likely because pages are not static, the homepage is currently the only page of the website affected (meaning if you already know the URL you’re looking for, you don’t have to worry) Other sections of the site are loading quite slowly, and it should be mentioned that going onto Stage6 at this time is not recommended, due to the possibility of malware. . update: Stage6 has been taken completely offline for the time being

The homepage of Stage6 redirects users to a shock site called Goatsemarathon, with the shock video “meat spin”. Earlier today, the homepage displayed a popup with “hacked by ebaumsworld” written on it.

Update: The website is completely offline now, with the message

Update: It appears that a user list of people has appeared and been taken down on 4chan’s Random board, including what we can only assume was usernames and passwords, only affecting those who had signed up from December 11th, 2007 to the present.

Darth Vader had this to say about Stage6 being offline, couretsy of Youtube:
